XIV ANNUAL LENTEN RETREAT

SUNDAY, MARCH 30, 2025

Holy Virgin Cathedral,

San Francisco

Our retreat will allow us to glimpse at the amazing history of Orthodoxy in California, to honor our holy predecessors, get inspired, and to prepare for the upcoming centennial.
This year the Orthodox Church marks the 100th anniversary of the repose of a great missionary, archpastor, confessor, visionary, and example of meekness and service – the holy Patriarch Tikhon. Saint Tikhon spent 7 years of his life in San Francisco, before returning to Russia, being elected Patriarch and leading the faithful in times of unknown persecution and hardship. Who was this saint, what legacy did he leave us, what does he mean to us?

As well, in 2025 the Orthodox of the West (OCA and ROCOR) will celebrate (on Saturday, October 4, 2025 – mark the date) a special jubilee, the 100th anniversary of the first Liturgy served at the Fort Ross chapel, 100 years of pilgrimage to this historical and holy place. The XIV Annual Lenten Retreat at Holy Virgin Cathedral will allow us to glimpse at the amazing history of Orthodoxy in California, to honor our holy predecessors, get inspired, and to prepare for the upcoming centennials.

As a special bonus, in cooperation with Trikirion Films, we will present the first San Francisco public screening of a wonderful new film – Sacred Alaska, a story of adventure, faith and sacrifice.
